4 SHORT FILM SCREENINGS at the ‘REGALETTE’

‘NORTHWICH’ 1938 – 1973

WEAVER HALL MUSEUM hosted this special event at its ‘Regalette’ Cinema. Four short documentary films of Northwich were discovered at The North West Film Archive in Manchester. Lead Artist Katayoun Dowlatshahi and Brett Langston, Archivist at the Chester Records Office, collaborated to present these silent films to the public as part of the COLLECT initiative. Newly edited by Katayoun Dowlatshahi, the film now has a commissioned narrative by Brett Langston. Some previously unseen archive footage from as early as 1938 includes carnival scenes, street scenes, images of the redevelopment of Northwich during the 1960s and the royal visit of Duchess of Kent, the Grand-daughter of Sir John Brunner.

Many thanks to the Weaver Hall Museum for their support and to all those who attended the screenings, who were able to give us more information. We also enjoyed the live commentary from Brett Langston who undertook a great deal of research on the films. 4 film screenings were organised and each was fully booked.

  4. I think you will find that Katharine the Duchess of Kent and wife of Edward Duke of Kent is the granddaughter of John Brunner and not Princess Michael of Kent.
